Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Amazing food and service! I had the bow tie alla vodka and it was incredible. The sauce tasted great and way better than your usual fast food restaurants. It's a small place and I'm surprised it's not much busier. It's definitely a hidden gem and would recommend it to anyone. They also have delicious gelato. I would recommend for dinner or lunch. Also has a our door seating area.

In the last year I've stopped in a few times opting for a nice sit down lunch during my crazy commutes between the city and burbs. I gotta say, they have really surprised my taste buds. Lately, I've been sticking with stuff that's mostly vegetarian, whether they be pastas, salads or Tostinos (grilled panini sandwiches). I really dig their roasted eggplant and portabello tostinos. When I'm in the mood for something a little different, I like to look into their display case and order randomly. So far, all good stuff.

Food is really good but underwhelming service. I get this feeling that they know their food is good and they don't have to step up their service. I've gone here a few times now and every time they are just so rude. So because of this I usually only order from here when coworkers are going to pick up. If their food weren't so good I would most certainly give them a lower rating and not order from here. They have a wide variety of food from tasty sandwiches to delicious pizza.

Let me start by saying that this review is long overdue! Avanti is a charming cafe, mainly known for its excellent paninis, salads, and pastas. It is run by a real Italian family and the quality shines through the authenticity of each dish. Some of our favorite paninis are the Siciliano and the Milano. However, the real motivation for reviewing this restaurant came after having my bridal shower here. In the midst of searching for shower venues, we settled into Avanti for dinner. At this point my husband had a stroke of brilliance, stating "we should just do the shower here." Although the restaurant is typically casual, they far exceeded our expectations! A big thank you to Mario who was extremely accomodating with our requests. I swear, this man must live here. He was always available and happy to help us if we had questions or concerns. More importantly, the food was amazing!!! I come from a picky Italian family, and satisfying everyone is a next to impossible task. But, everyone raved about the meal. From the "mini" arancini appetizers (they were huge) to the gelato bar for dessert, the meal was delicious and the service was very efficient. A homey neighborhood place I would definitely recommend to anyone for a casual night out or famiy gathering!

I will point out attitude issues the owners or workers have its kind of getting old I expect to get my money's worth with customer service and food service. Anyways my food analysts is Sandwiches are good. Calzones are really good only reason I come here since I moved from Cicero. Been here couple of times so get them calzones.

So my review is for catering only, which they do great! For some reason, I often order from Avanti for office luncheons yet I have never made it there for lunch. I need to work on that, especially seeing as they have an outdoor eating area! In any case, the food is great. We've done a variety of different lunches, mostly sandwich-y, but they offer a variety of different breads, meats and cheeses. I mean really, changing from a plain wheat bread to a multi grain ciabatta really dresses up a sandwich. The tortellini pasta salad is fabulous, as are the green salads. Always fresh, always good quality. And we like the cookies too. The delivery has always been on time and the driver has always been professional.

Hands-Down the best Italian deli in the suburbs. Everything I've had, friends have had and family as well has been fantastic. They cater parties as well. As good as their food is there customer service is tough to beat. They break their backs to help with your order and to please. My last meal was a steak sandwich. Most places give you a thin slice of meat with the cheese, vegetables etc. I was not surprised to find a great Panini sandwich with a thick cut of meat tender as all get out. You really can't go wrong. Go Hawks!

Pasta salad used to be great from here but is lacking lately. Pizza is good and usually always have slices ready. Their prices are so-so.

They have an extensive Italian type menu here, and the prices are very reasonable. I really enjoyed my meatball sandwich for $4.95. I also had a sampling of their tomato/mozzarella calzone (also a nice value at $4.95), and it was a bit doughy for me, but also not my lunch, so I was ok with that. Nice, clean casual atmosphere, and they also serve beer. Will be back again sometime to try something else.

Im a little torn with this place. This is the third or fourth time we have been or order from Avanti and there are some inconsistencies. The prices are great and the service is fine. The issue is that there are some things on the menu that are really good and then others that are definitely not. Im not sure how you could mess up a caprese sandwich but tomatoes should not be cut in wedges for a panini. Also a few more slices of mozz compared to the bread would have been good. The soup is good and the chicken and mozz panini is very good. The chicken piccatta was also really good [we have ordered multiple times]. This is almost one of those places where you continue to order the same thing in fear that if you try something new that you will not like it. We will probably return but we will stick to the items we have tried and enjoyed. bonus [extra star]: they have a drive through/drive up.

The only thing better than the food is the service...outstanding.! I have enjoyed everything i have tried here and look forward to getting some pizza next. They also have authentic gelato...mmm good. This place Rocks!!!! Highly recommended!

Found this place randomly while searching for places to eat during lunch. I like keeping my reviews short and simple. This is food is good and the portions are pretty big. The orders are on time and staff is friendly. Only reason why it s not 5 stars yet because the food is delicious but it inst spectacular. It isn't to die for but it is very tasty. I will def be going back more often.

My Fiance brought me here because she loves the penne vodka, and she should, its very authentic. I enjoyed a grilled chicken panini of sorts which was big enough to compete with a subway footlong while being true to its homemade promise. Delicious food, good service, a massive menu of pasta and paninis and mostly a nice family run joint which I would revisit when in the area. Don't forget the gelato!

First time here but the place was packed, the food was made fresh to order, staff was nice to help me through their menu too. Will come back for sure!!

Super busy at lunch, but totally worth it. My only complaint is the occasional pushy fellow customer. We're all in this together, people!

I wanted to write this review because my husband and I were really happy with the catered food we ordered for my daughter's birthday this past Saturday. We were a little iffy at first but we are glad that we did because the food was excellent. My guests kept complementing and asking where we catered from. We recommend it and definitely will use them in the future. The girl that took our order called and left a message on Monday to inquire how the food was and to thank us for ordering from them which I thought was really nice of her that she cared to know how their services were.

One interesting fact is that Italian restaurant has to be good, if not it will fail unless in a very upscale area where taste is mixed with status. Well this place is awesome. Unassuming, in the middle of an industrial area, a pearl of Italian gastronomy. Tony the owner is the symbol of quality orchestrating the kitchen and giving the authentic Italian atmosphere...

  • Jason P.

I have a couple things to say. Food is great. Wonderful flavors. If you go in during lunch time during the week you will have a bad time. I waiting 10-15 min just to get my order. Don't get me wrong it's worth the wait. But if you have a strict 30 min lunch this place is not for you.

Excellent fresh homemade Italian ! Have driven by here for years and finally decided to try it ! Me and my husband went in on a Friday night and loved it from The start ! The owner was very helpful . Music was good old fashioned Italian . I ordered the Chicken Limone and my husband had the rigatoni . Great fresh basket of bread with a glass of red wine . Soup or salad come with meal . We wanted to try the Fagiole and escarole . BOWLS came , not cups !! Huge plates came out and was perfected , hot fresh and garlicky !! Yum !! Hidden gem in suburbs that is now a "staple" . We have high standards coming from Chicago for good Italian . I'm looking forward to sitting on patio this Saturday with six friends for wholesome food ! Bravo !

My husband and I have been coming here for years. We have moved, but whenever we are in the area we love to stop in. The food is amazing! Love their tostinos. The pasta dishes are also yummy! Service is also on par every time. We have never had a bad meal here or left hungry.

Great "Chicago" atmosphere! We ate here before boarding a plane to California, and it was a perfect taste of Chicago.

We used Avanti Cafe to cater a graduation party this month. They were professional from the start. The people on the phone were friendly and efficient. They were not pushy/salesmen like in any way. One suggestion was made as far as the pasta I wanted and I did not change my mind, but when they offered up a different dessert option to the one I planned, it made sense and I did switch to their idea. They called two days ahead of time to confirm and the delivery the day of was punctual. Everyone loved the food, especially the lasagna. I was not disappointed in any way and would use them again in a heartbeat!

  • Slava F.

The food is pretty good, I have tried all of their Italian subs and most of the salads. No complaints, all was very good. The two stars are taken off for the service. Unless they are completely dead, to get someone's attention is hard and when you do, you can just read the annoyance on the their faces. Calling for carry outs is the same story, long times on hold and then no sorry for the wait no greeting, nothing, just impatient employee on the other end.

I have never eaten inside this place, usually order on my way home from work and pick it up, but the food is awesome! It's literally a block away form my apartment and i love it. I wish it was opened 24 hours. Try the calzones, their to die for. Best calzone I've ever had. My boyfriend got a mozzarella sub sandwich which was absolutely phenomenal. The cheese so fresh and not to oily and oh my goodness, I'm lost for words. I will never stop going here!! I've never had a bad experience. All i can say that this place should be featured on a food network tv show about how amazing it is.

  • Catherine T.

I eat here infrequently, but whenever I do it's excellent. Try the ravioli - meat or cheese - both are great. The soups are also outstanding. The owner (Mario) and staff here are always nice. There's a patio out front and TVs inside. Also, expect some Italian music! The lunch specials are priced right, but I prefer going for dinner when there is typically less of a crowd.

The wife and I ate here after her comp had catering last Christmas and I must say you get a lot for a little from Avanti. As the character playing Steinbrenner from Seinfeld, "I was blown away, just blownnn away". For $26 including tax Chic Parmeasan w pasta, Chic Marsala w potato wedges, 2 soups, Columbian Coffee, Apple Juice & Bread. The soup, wow, Escarole w bean/sausage, as soon as I heard it I wanted it. I made this two months ago and Avanti's was every bit as good. I made sure the wife tasted it and canceled her salad so she could have a bowl. That's right, bowl not cup ! The bread basket has great bread choice, tomato bread/Focaccia, whole wheat and its warm served w butter. I saw someone ordered seafood ceviche and it looked good ! Chicken Parm was delish as well as Chicken Marsala. Tomato sauce that was on pasta was great/sweet. I believe they cut their own chicken breast and bread it. Did I say this was a small place ? Putting out first class food. Coffee was strong tasty. We were stuffed and no room for gelato. Did I say prices were reasonable ? Come one come all. I know I need to try more but they have a big menu but Avanti had me at the soup and bread. Oh, and TV's, there are three or more all over.

I drive past this place all the time and never thought to stop in! Went for dinner last weekend---very impressed! Tasty, fast casual dining. The three of us loved our delicious pasta meals, and the service was excellent! I went back again two days later---great coffee in the morning on the way to work. Friends say their catering is great! I can't wait to go back for lunch to try some of their paninis! So glad I finally tried this place!

I use yelp all the time but this is my first review! Thought I should start giving back:-)) When we first walked in at 5:30pm on a Saturday the place was pretty empty, but it filled up as the night went on. We started with a Zinfandel and took our time looking at the menu. The server was very nice and helpful. We both got a bowl of pasta e fagioli which was perfect! The flavor was spot on. Then we ordered the gnocchi, baked ziti, fried calamari and fettuccine Alfredo. Everyone said their meal was the best they ever had. Also the portions were perfect. Then we had tiramisu and cannoli which was also excellent! We live at least 45 minutes away but would still consider driving back for more! A true jewel in an unusual place.

Love this place! The bow-tie vodka is to die for! My fave. Not to mention the cheese sticks at the check out counter. This place is family owned and the staff is always super friendly. Highly recommend!

I ate dinner with my adult son here for the first time last week. He ordered the portobello tostino and arancine with spinach (he's vegetarian) and I ordered the ravioli with side of the pasta e fagioli soup. The soup was very good but the marinara sauce on the ravioli was plain (OK wife makes best sauce). His sandwich was good and I felt we had a nice meal for the price. We also both ordered gelato for dessert and both choices were very good. Service was also excellent. I expect to return.

Today was my first visit to Avanti. I ordered the Diavolo and it exceeded my expectations. The bread is so fresh and delicious. It was the perfect amount of spiciness. All the veggies were fresh and crunch. I got a sandwich and chips for about $8.00. Very good deal. I can't wait to go back and try something else from there. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful even though they were busy. Do yourself a favor and try Avanti today, you will not be disappointed!

A pretty decent fast Italian place. Great pasta dishes and tasty tastings makes this a place worth visiting a second time. A totally great atmosphere for a relaxed lunch or a quick dinner. It might be good though if you are Italian or look Italian for this place as the customers and workers may look at you if you are not. just Sayin and felt that vibe

Holy cow!!!! I know Chicago has some amazing pizza options, but this place makes my belly smile, if such could exist. It's very authentic, but I'm avoiding the five stars and staying with four stars because of it being SO authentic. Have eaten here a few times and last time I ordered a seafood salad; no lettuce?? It was good but it came in a bowl and appeared as soup because of it. It was okay but I'm a chicken and pasta guy. Other than my half-error of getting what wasn't described fully, I'd give it give stars

  • Kristine N.

Gets busy during lunch but it's worth it. It's a semi fast food joint where you order, pay, and take a seat. I've had the vegetarian sandwich and the Italian sandwich which are both toasted and amazing. They always have delicious soups (lentil is my favorite), pizza, paninis, salads, pastas, etc. The patio is a lot of fun for a chill lunch when it's warm out.

Incredible sandwiches, pasts and cannoli. I wish we had a place this great in Fort Collins, CO. Well done! Went in the next day for coffee and that was great too!

Based on the yelp reviews, I decided to try this place. Being from NYC & NJ originally, I grew up around Italian Delis that makes awesome sandwiches and homecooked food. I finally found one just as amazing with Avanti cafe. This place is definitely a traditional Italian cafe. They have awesome paninis, subs, pizza and homecooked Italian food. It's mostly an Italian family that runs this place and do most of the cooking in the kitchen so your definitely getting that homecooked food. I go there several times a month for lunch. If your the type that goes to Panera, you will love this more than Panera. Not only is it better but it is way cheaper than Panera. This place is the best. Definitely try it, you won't regret it.

  • Natalie M.

I stopped in for lunch knowing nothing about the place. The woman behind the counter was very nice and helpful. I was surprised at all the options and everything looked and sounded good. I had a delicious bowl of soup made with spinach, beans and italian sausage. I loved the atmosphere, Italian music playing, customers speaking Italian, and there was a very casual feel. Too bad it's not closer to where I live.

  • Dany S.

The food is pretty good, however the delivery charge is ridicules! $4.00 we ordered two grilled paninis and paid $22.00 just a heads up...

  • Mark B.

Nice workers. I got the potabello panini and it was ok. I had to take some out because it was too much. Their calamari was good as well. The decor was cute. I would come back to try other things from their menu for sure

  • Suzy S.

Italian style family joint with amazing good. I'm a fan of their tostinos, bow tie aka vodka, tiramisu, and the cheese stick desert is by far my fav!!! There's outdoor seating and a drive-thru....bonus!! Not always the friendliest staff thats prob the only downfall.

Avanti is better than average, but I'm not quite willing to claim it's five star. Menu is huge, sandwiches are good (never had pasta) but beware the pizza by the slice. Some is much fresher than others, you really have to look closely at what you are buying. All in all for the area it's quite decent, fairly reasonable and good quality. As authentic as you can expect in Des Plaines. For my money Salerno's on Kensington is superior, but I'm partial to Salerno's esp. since they seem to have corrected the service & quality issues that were creeping up about a year or two ago. I definitely wouldn't hesitate to eat at Avanti, but it's not the kind of place that's really all that exciting. There are a couple sandwiches I want to try still, and I'd try the pasta (at night only?), so maybe one of those will nudge my opinion up the scale a bit. I would say, as it stands today, it's a solid 3.5. I give them a 4 because the people were nice, but they get a 2 for having the drink fountain behind the counter to thwart refillers (for $1.50+ you get a cup packed with ice). If you're worried, raise the price a quarter and let people refill - it's the norm these days. I also don't like potato chips at an Italian place - offer a different side option with the meal, they are there in your case.

  • Chris K.

Yelp pointed me to go here so I tried it. I'm a fan, the food tasted "real" hot, fresh, whatever you want to call it. I sort of forgot the chicken sandwich I had and the beef sub and soup my friend had but we loved it. Cons: -A bit noisy due to the hard surfaces. -I was expecting a Culvers type number and sit thing, a bit disappointing.

  • Al S.

In my opinion this is the best casual restaurant in the NW suburbs! You won't find a better restaurant that will give you delicious food, value, and terrific service than Avanti . Their portions are huge and most important, are fresh. We had the Chicken Parm and the Chicken Marsala dinners. Other restaurants give you smaller portions and charge twice the price. Their roasted potatoes and salads are amazing. In addition, they give you a great basket of Italian bread that will melt in your mouth. You need to give this restaurant a try. I can assure you that you won't leave disappointed. Avanti is a gem of a restaurant!

Very casual setting, but went due to strong Yelp reviews...... The food was great, the service was fast and the menu was extensive. Good food, fast

I'll preface this review by admitting that I haven't been there enough times to know everything the place has to offer, but for now it's three stars. I feel a little rude giving a rating that low after all of the other glowing reviews on here. One thing worth noting is some of the differences in the menu before/after 4pm. Appetizers, dinners, and whole pizzas start at that time. Check the menu or call to be sure. My party for lunch had sandwiches, I had a slice of pizza. I was really hoping for a new to-die-for pizza-by-the-slice place in addition to a solid sandwich joint. And the pizza was acceptable, but just not that great. I also acknowledge that when you order a whole pie fresh and hot, it'd probably a lot more impressive, so I'm willing to have my mind changed. The sandwiches were generally enjoyed. One comment was that the meat was good, nice and lean. The other comment was that the sandwich was a little dry or boring, or that the bread wasn't flavorful. Sounds to me like the consumer could've remedied that with condiments, but I'm just passing along the message. Service was good. It's counter service and they were polite. They did a lot of talking behind the counter about the orders that were messed up the last couple days and about their work schedules, but I'm okay with that since I didn't end up with any major issues with the order. I'd recommend asking about getting dressing for any salads. Our Caesar didn't come with any, and I'm not sure whether that was intentional. Nitpicking, I know. Atmosphere was nice and enjoyable. So in short, I'm (sadly) not in love, but I also plan to dive into more of the menu and try some of the great variety of hot sandwiches. And maybe one of these nights I'll order a whole, fresh pizza. I'll update this review when/if necessary.

This place is awesome! I pick it up on the way home from work probably every couple weeks. Its fantastic and very affordable. We usually order Vodka pasta and a calzone and its always top quality. The sandwiches and pizza are great as well. You need to check this place out

this place is just straight up amazing!!!! hands down u can't go wrong here. born and raised hard core greek the food taste like my mom made it. everything is fresh, hot, and tastes amazing every single time i come here for lunch or dinner. been a customer for almost 7 years and i have not had one bad experience. this is a gem because their are very few true italian family owned restaurants like this. i can't figure out when they sleep since they are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. yummy for the tummy food

Hidden Gem aptly describes this place! We find it a great spot for dinner without a wait. The staff is attentive and most importantly the food is awesome. My favorite - Arancini. Also the foccaccia sandwiches are phenomenal!

This is my other hidden gem, it's set back off rt 83, if you blink, you just drove past it. They have an awesome lunch and dinner menu. I normally order the 6" smokey joe for under $5.00, but if you're looking for a office or house catering, we just had chicken Marsala with sautéed mushrooms, and bow-tie pasta in alla vodka sauce. My friends, this was to die for. If you plan to eat there, go after 4pm, a larger selection of side dishes are available.

I haven't even eaten the food yet and I'm happy. I ordered delivery because it snowed heavily today. I'm a pita. I called to ask about dairy-free items on the menu. They were very gracious. I called back to place my order. I was very disorganized but Kim was very patient with me.

Great food for a great price. I eat here at least twice a week. Everything is fresh and they have something for everyone. I've recommended this place to a lot of people and they all love it as well.

They have the best Spaghetti and Meatballs! The Bow Tie Ala Vodka is one of my favorites. I recommend ordering it with two meatballs smothered with vodka sauce.

The most unique fast casual in Elk Grove Village. You can't get authentic Italian at this price anywhere nearby. The Avanti Clasico wrap is probably one of the best sandwiches I've ever had - their homemade Italian dressing is amazing! Famous Italians adorn the walls and the music is as authentic as the food. Definitely a favorite lunch spot!

  • Sherwin C.

While the food isn't very sophisticated, the large portions and good prices make up for that shortfall. It's a solid choice for those who live in the area. Make sure you try their paninis.

We finally stopped in Saturday nite for dinner, after passing by for several years. Passing by for several years was a huge mistake. After just one meal, my family is hooked on this place. We had the bow-tie alla vodka, spaghetti with meat sauce and with sausage, and eggplant roll ups. All of us agreed these were one of the better meals we've had...and we are Italian and cook and eat it out. The food was fresh and very tasty with perfect portions priced right. We did have a waitress bring out our tableware, soup...pasta fazole and escarole with sausage, great hot fresh bread/focaccia, then our meals. She was very attentive, as was the order taker, who told us to wait to close out check because maybe we'd want to order something else. Smart move, we ordered cannoli to take home...again, filled nicely and tasty fresh. We left a tip for the waitress because of her great service. Ordering at the counter, we weren't sure what to do, but again, she was soooo nice. Maybe at lunch where you only get a sandwich, you don't leave a tip? What a gem only a couple of miles from home and we never knew it. It is now our new favorite Italian go to place. Can't wait to go back and try sandwiches, panini, and more pasta dishes! My daughter said she will try the drive thru for AM coffee instead of the big chains.....will let you know! A small wonderful family owned gem

Got to give it to this place. Consistent. Sometimes crowded but worth the wait. I've had pretty much everything on their menu and the foods always been authentic and really good. Love the frittatas in the morning and panninis for lunch.

  • Jessica G.

I ordered a couple of pans of pasta and meatballs for a pasta party. Food was great, Vodka pasta was delicious, everyone enjoyed! My only issue with them was I ordered the food to be delivered at a specific time and they were late, despite the fact that I called that morning to confirm my order and delivery time...

I stopped by after having driven past this place every day for the past 7 years. Wow, I have really been missing something special. I picked up a Classico, which is the standard Italian sub that you can find anywhere, but here they have taken it to the nines. I went to UIC, grew up on the south side, used to play card games with my crew in their garage next to the old mans wine press. I've worked and eaten at my share of Deli s, so if you can please stop reading get in your car and come out to Avanti's and get a Classico. It will make you want to come back.

When I walked into this place on New Year's Eve morning I was completely caught off guard and totally transported to a little hole in the wall place in Querceta Tuscany, well off the tourist map I visited during my honeymoon. Two tables of old Italian men drinking espressos speaking in Italian. Old Italian ladies coming in for these giant cannoli's for their New Year celebrations. And then, this gorgous man behind the counter, Holy Cannoli! Oh, and the coffee and ham and cheese croissant were nice too. And the seafood salad looked amazing. :-) PS. The Michael B review below was actually ME trying to write a review while slightly intoxicated on said friend's iPad. Michael is totally hetero. But it is kind of hilarious!

Absolutely the best sub place and Italian food in the area. Was so worried that they wouldn't deliver to my new place of work and they do!!! I'd be lost without it.

Great sandwiches, I love the Diavolo on a the focaccia bread. The prices are good too. I recommend this to everyone. I would have given it 5 stars, but the pizza is really bad. Do not get the pizza by the slice or whole.

Several years ago, Avanti Caffe was recommended by the owner of a little Italian bakery I used to stop at on my way to work. Unfortunately, the bakery is no more, but Very fortunately, Avanti lives on - and thrives! Tony, Mauro, and the whole family greets us when we visit. Their Panini are outstanding! We usually have a vegetarian, Caprese, or portobello, with a side of potato wedges. I don't know how they make them, but they're tastier than potato wedges should be! Then, we wash it all down with San Pellegrino Aranciata. If we have room left, they have home made biscotti, and gelati. Molto bene!

We ALWAYS get the meatball sandwiches. Best we've ever had and they are pretty big. Not sure if their drive thru has ever worked though? I typically phone in an order and then pick up.

I like this place a lot. Nothing better than offending your coworkers with the smell of a good Italian sub. I alternate between the Roma and Venezia subs. One has prosciutto and artichokes, the other has ham and fresh mozzarella. I forget which is which. They also have daily combos and pasta offerings. A pasta dish usually consists of pasta, salad, focaccia, and a drink for 6-7 bucks. Good deal.

Just had dinner here today. Cheaper and better than olive garden. First, the prices are reasonable for the plate of pasta with soup and bread. Second, delicious food! everything from the soup to the pasta.. Delicious! I had the chicken parmesan. Big portion and not the typical one you eat in other restaurants with the already made sauce from the jar. This is the real deal. The bread was also to die for. Not too sure what kind it was but I could of ate that all day. Maybe it was the focaccia bread? Staff were friendly. Like the interior and how it is set up like up. So i would not have to sit down to order and they have a drive thru!I didn't add last star because they need better gelato flavors! That's it. Will come back again!

This is a great place to get delicious Italian sandwiches. The store used to be a Wendy's and it's evident by the building design. I've only gotten sandwiches here and the napoleteno, diavolo and the caprese are a few of my favorites. The ingredients are fresh and everything is made to order. Gelato is also available but I haven't tried that yet. Service is friendly and quick and they have opened up another location downtown on Jackson! When I am out in this area and looking for a healthy, fresh lunch, I like coming here. Avanti will not disappoint you.

We love this place. You can get a good panini or caprese salad for lunch, pasta or a panzerotti for dinner, and Italian ice or other gelato for dessert. The staff is always friendly and efficient, too. The ambiance and vibe of the place really makes you feel at home.

This place has been by my mama's house for babylons but I didn't decide to go until about six months ago and I am pretty glad I did! It is in an unassuming little building with a black & white sign; it is not too noticeable. I think that is probably why I never went because I am a big fan of trying new places & things! You can tell this place is run by a family; I had a little girl take my cash and change. It was cute though :) I began going there when I was eating healthy, so I decided to get an American style turkey sub. They also have paninis, Italian subs, and other Italian style sandwiches. The Italian sandwiches and paninis are the best deal because for about $5 you get a GIGANTIC sandwich! I MEAN IT IS REALLY HUGE! Even during my intense binges that would be a lot for me! Anyway, I have gotten the turkey sub a few times and this is my critique: too much turkey (I took about half of it out of the sandwich), poor quality turkey, amazing bread, and amazing Italian dressing. Overall the sandwich was good, and I would get it again :) Just do not assume it is going to be the best Sub you've ever had. I don't suggest getting delivery as they add on a pretty huge delivery charge! LAME! I paid $8.50 for ONE sandwich and had to tip! That forces poor lazy Manders to actually have to get out of the house to get Avanti Cafe! LAMESAUCEEE!!! They often have coupons in the mail, so look out for those! Would I go to Avanti Cafe again? Yes. Should you go? Yes. At least try it, k?

This place is like an Italian influenced Panera without being overpriced. Quality ingredients and ample portions. Can't go wrong!

If there is anything I miss about working in the burbs, it's this place! Run by an Italian family, this cafe does everything to make the customer feel welcome and the food taste great! If you were a regular, like I was, the woman taking orders behind the counter remembered my name everytime I was there. It was such a nice touch considering they get a lot of customers! Everything is home made and fresh daily! Get there early at lunch time because this place does get crowded!

I've gone here way too many times to give it anything less than 5 stars. Everything is well made and delicious. You get huge portions for under ten dollars. There pasta dishes are comparable to fine dining restaurants. There sandwiches are delicious. You can't go wrong with their daily specials, thats about all I eat there. All of the staff is friendly. Definitely thankful for such a good cheap place to go to for lunch.

This review may be biased, because I love Italian cafes. The kind where you can get a quick sandwich with Prosciutto, Bresaola, Pancetta or Capocolla, or a fancy homemade pasta dish with a bottle of wine and some tiramisu for dessert. Excellent soups, rice balls, and gelato. The bruschetta is so-so. The Moretti beer is served in adorable glasses with the Moretti logo. I always want to steal one, but then let my conscience slap my hand before I do. The family that runs and owns this place is always here and super friendly. They run a really efficient shop for the lunch crowds, and slow down for their quieter dinner hours. Avanti is incredibly cheap for ridiculous portions. It's very possible to have a really nice dinner with wine be around $10. And the pasta dishes always stretch into lunch the next day for me. (Except for the one time when the container wasn't closed all the way and I spilled the red sauce all over my white skirt and my car :-/). They have a nice outdoor seating area, but it is right off busy Elmhurst Rd. Oh yeah, the Italian Beef may rank as my favorite in the vicinity of Chicago. It's pretty unreal.

My old office was pretty close to this place, and I ate there many times. Usually I would get a sandwich, and I would alternate between the Classico, the Roma, and the Smokey Joe. The Venezia is also quite good. I would always get a 10" which I thought was a pretty good deal for the price, and I would either finish it if I was starving or eat half to 2/3 if I wasn't or got something else with it. They also have some good cold salads in their deli case; I usually got a small thing of the bean salad, which had more texture than average thanks to carrots - a nice touch I thought, although that could be a regular thing in parts of Italy and I wouldn't know. I also had dinner there a couple times, pasta both times which was also good. Nice people, too. My only tip is that the drive through window, while convenient as hell, sometimes seemed slower than the average time taken had I gone inside instead. Definitely recommended.

Nice menu variety. Panini's are what hooked me, besides decor. I've also had sandwiches, pizza slice special (only when loaded w/veggies). The only thing keeping the 5th star away is cuz pasta portions could be bigger. I haven't been to the downtown site yet, but understand the menu is slightly different to pay the Chicago rent.

When i walk into a restaurant with two tables of old Italian men sitting at tables i know I'm going to like this place. When a drop dead gorgeous Italian younger man welcomes you and asks for your order, well then, God help me, I'm in love. Bear bones for sure. But honestly, it reminded me of a place in Tuscany we visited off the tourist map. Good food, loved it.

I have been here about 10 times, never disappointed. My very Italian wife goes there weekly with her very Italian parents and LOVE it. Catered a party half a dozen times and they always came through. EVERYTHING is fantastic. Once they get a full liquor license, I'll be there weekly. Love this place.

I love this place, my co-workers and I usually come here about once every month or two. Which is prettty good since we don't go out to eat that often. Things to try there are there sandwiches (Diablo), the lasagna, and the rice balls. If you just want pizza, it's pretty good much better then Mr. Beef. Service is great and very beautiful ladies work there. To drink go with a pop or with there Chai Tea, iced or hot, either is great. One thing to remember is that you should try to get in there before noon. Usually

Good American Italian lunch spot. Fast service and decent food. I got a Classico and it came as advertised. Pizzas looked good. Better than average lunch food.

Your food is made-to-order. I especially love their tomato & mozzarella panini. Everything is served nice and simple! I usually go for lunch on the weekends but if you go during the week, it's always packed so phone order if you're in a hurry.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
